Pozzuoli, the councilor calls the councilor a "goose". Storm in the chamber

Quick U-turn and apologies after protests from the assembly and his own party. "I esteem and respect women"

The leader of Europa Verde in the Pozzuoli City Council, Gennaro Andreozzi , was "dismissed" by the other two councilors of his party after he called a female councilor a "goose" during the assembly. A controversy ensued, with positions all critical and condemnatory, which were followed today by an apology from Andreozzi himself: "These are complicated times for me. I esteem and respect women. I apologize."
Carla Caiazzo , president of the Equal Opportunities Commission of Pozzuoli, among others, denounced the episode. "As president of the Commission, together with the other commissioners - she says - I want to express our dismay at what happened in the City Council. The attitude and words spoken by councilor Andreozzi towards councilor Titti Zazzaro are unacceptable, the result of a backward and chauvinistic culture. Maximum solidarity and closeness to councilor Zazzaro who is first and foremost a woman, a mother and a professional. She, like many other women who suffer bullying by men, was unable to defend herself in the face of what was in all respects a verbal attack. An act that has no political undertones, but which represents a direct attack on a woman, a squalid and disproportionate abuse. Calling a woman a "goose" and making explicit references to her work and professional past, claiming the adoption of patriarchal logics has taken us back decades. These attitudes of domination are unacceptable».
There have been numerous similar positions, to which Andreozzi responded today with an apology post : "For me - he wrote on Facebook - these are complicated times and for this reason I probably let myself go to statements that are not mine, so I apologize to all those who felt and felt offended by what I said during my speech in the Council. I renew my apologies and I hope that my story, as a convinced defender of women, witnessed by daily action both public and private, speaks for me. With facts I will demonstrate, as I have always done, that my action is, and will always be in defense of women, whom I esteem and respect."
